Marseille terminal is DHL’s bridge to North Africa
[ October 20, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]DHL Freight has opened a new logistics terminal at Marseille as part of the modernization and expansion of its road logistics network in the Southern France and the Mediterranean region. It will be an important gateway for Tunisia, said the company
It has a cross-deck area of 3,204m2 with 35 gates, on a total space of 3,632sq m. The increased capacity will allow for quicker and more efficient operation – for example, by offering the consolidation and deconsolidation of less-than-truckload shipments, which the DHL network will then distribute customers in the European market. Connecting the continents of Europe and Africa, the terminal in Marseille will also use its capacities to become an important gateway to and from Tunisia.
Solar panels cover at least 30 % of the roof surface. In addition, DHL Freight recently introduced the GoGreen Plus service to reduce CO2 emissions for road transport. Following the carbon insetting approach, DHL Freight is decarbonizing its European road freight network by investing in low- and zero emission technologies such as electric vehicles and alternative fuels such as biogas or hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), for its line haul and pickup- and delivery services. This new service is also available for customers in Marseille and throughout France.
