Menzies faces Heathrow strike
[ April 26, 2013 // Chris ]Menzies World Cargo Heathrow is facing a possible strike after the Unite union said it was planning to ballot its 294 members in a dispite over a two year pay freeze. Talks to attempt to resolve the dispute at Acas broke down without agreement and the union is urging the company to return to negotiations. It says that while its members have endured a standstill on pay, Menzies increased its profits 16% to £35.6 million. Its handles a number of major airlines including Air India, China Airlines, Kuwait, Asiana, Gulf Air, Lufthansa, MEA, Egypt Air, Austrian, MNG, SAS, Thai, TAP, Transero and Aegean.
However, Unite national officer, Oliver Richardson said he hoped that the company “will see sense and get back around the negotiating table.”
