Military placement scheme wins first battle
[ February 13, 2013 // Chris ]Skills for Logistics reports that its Military Work Placement Scheme has achieved a ratio of 30% job offers to placement since its launch in November. The scheme aims to fund companies to provide nearly 1,000 work placements to ex-forces personnel in 2013, in jobs ranging from senior director positions through operations management to driving.
Mick Jackson, CEO of Skills for Logistics, reports: “We have received enormous support from employers with over 2000 registers placements. Companies include Kuehne + Nagel, TNT, Norbert Dentressangle, Boots and DHL. There is demand for work placement opportunities across the whole spectrum of logistics roles, from warehousing to driving; traffic office to import/export.”
He added: that while the pilot scheme ends on 31 March, “we see enormous benefit for a longer term scheme from April.”
