MSC boss is Multimodal man of the year

MSC managing director Dan Everitt was named FTA Multimodal Personality of the Year on 10 May, the opening day of the show, which welcomed a record numbers of visitors.

Peel Ports was Multimodal Exhibitor of the Year, Joseph Peak of Expeditors won the Young Logistics Professional Award, and Marks and Spencer and Bibby Distribution were both championed by FTA for their green initiatives.

Awards also went to Freightliner, IAG Cargo, Mitsui OSK Lines, Maritime Transport, and Agility.

“Everitt’s vision for the future of MSC is the continued promotion of a professional and dynamic organisation that places its staff and customers at the heart of its business,” Multimodal Director Robert Jervis told an audience of over 600 supply chain decision makers at yesterday’s Awards Gala Dinner.

“As well as his obvious professional success, he is a thoroughly decent bloke who truly deserves this award.”

Marks and Spencer’s campaign to reduce carbon emissions was recognised with the Multimodal Award for Contribution to Environmental Sustainability in partnership with FTA, whilst Bibby Distribution was rewarded with the LCRS Leadership in Carbon Reduction Award.

“Marks and Spencer is leading the way when it comes to reducing its environmental impact and carbon emissions,” said FTA chief executive, David Wells. “And Bibby Distribution has demonstrated leadership through a number of key activities, including a redesign of its milk collection fleet to reduce fuel usage.”

The FTA Multimodal Awards 2016 were hosted by broadcaster John Sergeant and took place at the NEC’s new VOX Arena on the first day of the free-to-attend Multimodal 2016 show.
