New chief executive, new direction for Intradco
[ September 21, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Chapman Freeborn and Avia Solutions Group’s animal transport specialist Intradco Global has named Charlie McMullen as chief executive.
He began his career at Intradco in 2011 as a stall manager and in-flight project manager; positions, becoming director in 2015, when he took over from his father, Eddie McMullen, who established the company in 1987.
Originally Intradco Global handled all types of cargo, and it was not until 1989 that it operated its first animal charter, transporting six horses from London to Ghana.
Chapman Freeborn acquired majority shares in Intradco Global in 2014.
In his new position, McMullen will continue to expand the business across global markets, focusing on sustainable international growth. He said: “We have progressive plans to continue improving the quality, safety and cost efficiency of live animal transport over the coming years.”
He added: “The last decade has seen Intradco Global focusing almost solely on live animal transport, however, in the near future we will re-enter some other verticals that we believe have strong synergies with our live product. This will come under the division of ‘Intradco Dynamiq‘ focusing on difficult cargo that requires a hands-on approach. New teams are being developed to focus on these new verticals, whilst having the existing backbone of Intradco Global’s core skills and competencies in dealing with complex logistics.”
Meanwhile, parent company Chapman Freeborn celebrated its 50th anniversary simultaneously with staff across four continents. Gatherings took place on Friday 15t September, with Eric Erbacher, group chief executive, and Russi Batliwala, chairman of the board, addressing staff in a series of video calls throughout the day across multiple time zones.
