New course to tackle poor packing
[ May 28, 2013 // Chris ]Transport insurer TT Club and Exis Technologies have come together to develop an online training tool for those involved in the loading and unloading of containers or similar equipment. The foundation CTUpack e-learning will be launched later this year and it will evolve to reflect developments and updates to the ILO guidelines. There is also capacity for additional modules to incorporate cargo specific and more advanced training elements.
The course is aligned with IMO/ILO/UN guidelines for packing containers and will be available for the web or intranet. Administrators will be able to set up and monitor students’ records. There will also be a version for use within standard learning management systems.
TT Club’s risk management director, Peregrine Storrs-Fox, said the new course would follow the well established IMDG Code e-learning training course from Exis, which is also sponsored by TT Club.
Correct packing of containers has become a major issue for industry regulators and insurers and over a third of TT Club cargo loss or damage claims are a result of poor packing.
