[ May 24, 2019 // Chris ]APM Terminals has invested in two new mobile harbour cranes at its West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) in Onne Port, eastern Nigeria. The two Liebherr LHM 550 cranes are due for deployment in July this year. WACT has already invested around US$2.5 million in ten purpose-built terminal trucks, three reach stackers and an empty container handler. WACT, one of the first greenfield terminals to be built in is located in the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone near Port Harcourt.
WACT has also invested in a new container freight station at Onne, to help local farmers with export goods such as cashew nuts and sesame seeds. A government drive to encourage exports of agricultural raw materials has increased demand.
