DHL Express officially opened a new service centre at Gatwick at a ceremony in the presence of local MP, Mims Davies.

The area has seen an increase in parcel shipments, calling for a larger facility. The new £37 million facility includes a £2m automated shipment processing system and is projected to handle around 2 million items each year.

It also has extensive solar panels, low-use water appliances and energy usage monitoring. The site has the infrastructure to support 90 electric vans, with 30 electric car charging spaces for employees.

Gatwick Service Centre manager, Claire Leo, said: “We are thrilled to open our new state-of-the-art service centre in Gatwick, which will enhance our ability to meet the growing demand for express delivery services in the region. With this new facility, we are well-positioned to support the local economy and deliver the highest standards of service.”
