New gates for Liverpool’s Gladstone Dock
[ June 14, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Peel Ports Group has invested £10 million in new outer lock gates at the Port of Liverpool’s Gladstone Dock which has been serving vessels since 1927.
Several iconic ships have passed through the dock since then including anti-submarine warfare and minesweeper ships during World War II.
Peel Ports appointed contractor Ravestein to install the new gates which were built in Holland and are expected to be in action for the next 50 years.
Ravestein commissioned a specially designed barge to move the gates from Holland to Liverpool.
The project was delivered as part of Peel Ports’ newly launched partnership programme with consultancy firms to deliver multimillion-pound sustainable infrastructure projects.
