New German air cargo hub open for business
[ November 21, 2013 // Chris ]Magdeburg/Cochstedt international airport officially opened its first cargo and logistics centre on 21 November in the presence of Saxony‐Anhalt Minister for Economy and Trade, Hartmut Möllring and Secretary of State Dr. Klaus Klang. Danish operator Airport Development is spending €8 million on developing the gateway in the east of the country, starting with a 1,000m² freight hall with security and screening technology and storage facilities to transform Magdeburg into an international freight hub. A second, larger building (7,000m²) is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2014.
