New surge in illegal migrants, says BBC
[ March 24, 2014 // Chris ]There has been another surge in illegal immigrants attempting to board UK-bound lorries in the port of Calais, the BBC reports. Undercover TV reporters have filmed migrants attempting to climb onto trailer axles; two have recently been killed in the attempt. According to the report, there are estimated to be more than 400 migrants in a makeshift camp next to the port.
Immigration Minister James Brokenshire told the BBC that there had been an increase in clandestine immigrants through, mostly due to conflicts in Syria and the Middle East.
