New Thames crossing is vital, says Tilbury chief
[ October 10, 2018 // Chris ]Forth Ports chief executive Charles Hammond has described the Lower Thames Crossing as crucial to the port of Tilbury, as the ten-week statutory consultation for the scheme got underway on 10 October.
He said: “As the fastest growing UK port, it is crucial that this project enhances Tilbury’s northbound and southbound connectivity. We remain committed to achieving a direct road connection off the proposed LTC Tilbury junction into the expanding port area.
“To that end, we will continue to play a full and constructive part in the development of the scheme as it is shaped over the coming months.”
Forth Ports adds that the Tilbury link road also has the support of local MP Jackie Doyle-Price, Thurrock Council, major business groups, the Port of London Authority and P&O Ferries.
