Next stop Ireland – Toga opens UK Midlands hub
[ November 11, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]Forwarding, logistics and customs clearance specialist Toga Group has opened an Irish Pallet Hub in Coleshill, Birmingham. The 160,000sq ft shared user facility at Hams Hall Distribution Park houses staff from Toga Freight and the Group’s UK subsidiary, Irish Sea Logistics.
Toga loads over 20 groupage trailers every day in Great Britain destined for Ireland, along with full loads.
Toga Group managing director, Robert Dickinson said a tipping point had been reached “where we have become the dominant partner in several partner relationships, so much so that the economics showed that we needed to build a new strategy of keeping the shipments within the group.”
Newly appointed group commercial director, Paul Mountford, who oversees all activities in the UK for Toga Group and Irish Sea Logistics, described the Coleshill site as: “A market leading solution for any British exporter to Ireland. What we offer here is not available anywhere else. There are no other Irish owned, Irish headquartered, UK based pallet or freight hubs dedicated to supplying Ireland.”
Robert Dickinson added: “Since Brexit and COVID, the flows from GB to Ireland became disrupted and complicated. We have uncomplicated that and offer standard next day delivery to Dublin at a very reasonable rate.”
New operations manager in Coleshill, Alex Cookson remarked: “With the existing sister company in Erith already loading multiple trailers to Dublin each week, and I’ve seen the plans for the Northwest for early 2025, this is the perfect time to establish an Irish freight hub in the very best located distribution park in England.”
