Niche vessel is ready for methanol
[ October 16, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Rhenus Maritime Services has added a methanol-ready coastal vessel to its fleet. However, until that time arrives, the RMS Ruhrort will operate using a clean diesel engine.
The ship is being fitted out in Dordrecht. V
Rhenus says that vessels of this design and size are normally more than 20 years old and technically out of date. Thanks to its compact design, it can be used for niche markets – on the river Rhine, for example.
The RMS Ruhrort has a payload capacity of 2,950 DWAT and will transport dry goods such as steel coils or wheat.
