Oakland to offer Moldova gateway for Ukraine exports
[ February 24, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Retail supply chain company Oakland International and not-for-profit organisation Hope4 are opening doors for Ukrainian food producers to access the UK market via neighbouring Moldova.
As well as bringing in humanitarian aid via the country, the two partners are now working to provide a subsidised back-haul solution primarily for Ukrainian producers to access the UK retail and foodservice markets. The aim is to stimulate economic recovery and help Ukraine become more self-sufficient and create new jobs for local people.
A new warehouse rental agreement is to be fully funded by Oakland for a minimum of five years. During this time it is planned that the warehouse will operate as an inbound/outbound consolidation centre, providing humanitarian while facilitating exports as backloads from Ukraine and Moldova to assist with economic regeneration and support.
Oakland has already financed trucks to deliver Ukraine aid following the outbreak of war and wored with the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK and the Mail Force appeal by packing food boxes at its Bardon depot for delivery to the Ukrainian border,
Oakland has established UK retail relationships is now apply for bonded-warehouse status.
