Online overseas sales on the up
[ June 23, 2014 // Chris ]Overseas online deliveries despatched from the UK could double within three years, according to industry research. The UK Delivery Index for June 2014 (reporting May figures) published by IMRG (Interactive Media in Retail Group) – the UK’s industry association for e-retail – and eCommerce and multi-channel delivery technology firm, MetaPack – says that the expected 161 million orders posted cross-border this year may rise to 384 million in 2017 if current trends continue.
IMRG head of e-Logistics Andrew Starkey, said the rise in overseas orders was due to the quality of service provided by UK retailers and that the numbers would continue to rise.
The total number of orders despatched by retailers in the UK – domestic and international is expected to top one billion next year, and reach around 1.3 billion in 2017.
