Passengers to freight for Lufthansa A321s
[ July 7, 2021 // Chris ]Lufthansa Cargo is to permanently converting two of its Airbus 321 passenger aircraft into freighters. The twin-engine medium-haul aircraft will receive large cargo doors to enable the transport of containers on the main deck. They will be operated by Lufthansa CityLine on behalf of Lufthansa Cargo and stationed in Frankfurt.
The aircraft can transport 28 tonnes per flight, significantly more than is possible in the bellyholds of short-haul passenger aircraft.
The carrier cited surging e-commerce volumes as the reason behind its decision.
