PD Ports apprentice takes Tees business award
[ September 30, 2022 // Chris Lewis ]PD Ports apprentice civil engineer Emily Clark was crowned ‘Best Newcomer’ at the fifth annual Tees Businesswomen Awards on 27 September. Following an initial four-week placement, organised via the Tees Valley Logistics Academy, Emily found her flair for civil engineering and was offered a permanent position at PD Ports. She is now helping to promote careers in maritime and logistics to other young people and acting as an example for the next generation in the sector.
PD Ports’ chief executive, Frans Calje, said: “Emily has made a huge impact at PD Ports, not only within the engineering team but across the group.” PD Ports hydrographic surveyor, Mia MacDonald, was also selected amongst the finalists for the ‘Breaking the Mould’ award in recognition of her continued success in a somewhat unconventional field.
PD Ports also secured the Innovation and Technology title at the North East Business Awards on 29 September.
