PD Ports manager goes above and beyond
[ June 22, 2017 // Chris ]PD Ports contract manager, Tracy Ward took the Above and Beyond Freight Award – sponsored by Eddie Stobart – at the 2017 FTA everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards in London on 21 June.
Ward joined PD Ports in 2015 as an administration manager but just 12 months later, was promoted to contract manager. Thanks to her work the department completed over 41,000 deliveries in 2016 alone achieving 99% delivery success while reducing accidents by 10.2%.
Woman of the Year was Asda Logistics Services change manager (Scotland) Julie McCaffery.
Other winners included CM Downton Runcorn depot manager, Jannette Wallace (Leader award); Kuehne + Nagel customer service manager, Jeny Hanvey; and DHL supply chain retail operations vice president, Angela Howard.
Meanwhile, Dartford-based Europa Logistics revealed that almost 40% of the workforce is female, including two of its eight directors, branch network and sales director Dionne Redpath and logistics director Maria Torrent-March (pictured below).
This compares with an industry-wide average of less than a quarter, according to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.
