Peel Ports launches Heysham upgrade

Peel Ports has started a £10 million investment programme at its port of Heysham, chief operating officer, David Huck revealed in an interview with FBJ. The work will include reconfiguring the yard area to increase capacity by 20%, putting in new haulage gates and introducing a new terminal operating system.

David Huck said: “The work will support capacity increases for CLdN, Isle of Man Steam Packet and Stena Line’s new Belfast vessels, the first of which is due to go into service by late summer or early autumn.”

He added that Heysham would have “unrivalled capacity” with the opening of the new M6 link road.
