Pharma specialist ready for the flu season with new frozen solution
[ October 29, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]Movianto UK, a European pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and diagnostic industry specialist is now offering active frozen transport solutions to support the Autumn vaccine and flu campaigns, enabling the transport of medicines down to -25°C.
Movianto UK already offers storage, distribution, and delivery in the UK market at ambient, ambient temperature controlled, chilled and frozen temperatures but the traditional method for distribution and delivery of vaccines at -25 degrees Celsius requires the use of passive shippers and dry ice packing which are both expensive and time restricted.
With the arrival of the Autumn seasonal campaign, Movianto has configured and validated its existing trailers and fleet to operate at -25°C. There is no longer a need to specially prepare and pack the vaccines into shippers with dry ice and they can instead be loaded straight onto the trailers which can dock directly into temperature-controlled warehouse facilities.
Managing director, Movianto UK, David Evans, said: “The additional capability of active frozen vaccine transport is a good example of how logistics chains even for the same products can evolve, become more efficient, and meet the needs of clients. This is exactly the reason, why we continuously develop and optimise our methods and supply chains. And if this requires investment, we are willing and able to partner with clients to implement tailored solutions.”
Account director, government contracts, Ben Williams, added: “By building on our long-established partnerships and supply chain relationships, as fleet and industry experts, we have now introduced additional capability to support our key contracts in facilitating active frozen distribution and delivery of COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccines to the UK health care system and NHS end users. This is significantly reducing costs, improving delivery lead times and creating a more agile solution.”
