Ports issues under the spotlight
[ March 15, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]The annual UK Ports Conference 2023 will take place on 24-25 May at Congress Centre in London.
Key themes at the 15th event will be implementing growth strategies, areas for expansion, and how to deliver infrastructure to support these and maximise opportunities in new digital technologies.
Industry leaders in will explore energy development in the likes of offshore wind and hydrogen, as well as examine pathways to decarbonisation and net zero.
Among the keynote speakers will be, Mike Alcock, deputy director at the Department for Transport and a range of panel discussions. A representative from the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC), John Lucy, freeport director at Liverpool Freeport and Nolan Gray, freeport director at Tees Valley Combined Authority, will examine potential plans for Green Freeports.
While Alexandra Beaumont, head of UK shore (maritime decarbonisation) at the DfT and Eleanor Howe, environmental and sustainability coordinator at Portsmouth International Port, will discuss current strategies for decarbonisation of ports, as well as potential applications of hydrogen and alternative fuels.
The two-day event will be chaired by Richard Ballantyne OBE, Chief Executive at British Ports Association.
