Ports pleased by Brexit plans

[ December 19, 2018   //   ]

The UK Major Ports Group welcome the Government’s decision, announced on 18 December to step up plans for a ‘no deal’ Brexit. These include sending out letters to 140,000 businesses, urging them to trigger any no-deal contingency plans as well as distributing HMRC information packs on 21 December.
The group’s chief executive, Tim Morris, said: “Regardless of the politics we are 101 days away from Brexit, very close in business planning terms. It’s crucial that businesses have their contingency plans firmly in place. We continue to work very closely with Government to prepare for a range of different Brexit scenarios.”
Meanwhile, business groupings including the British Chambers of Commerce, the Confederation of British Industry and the Institute of Directors said that they were “horrified” at the level of political infighting still taking place with barely months to go before Brexit day.
