Rhenus joins forces with food charity FareShare
[ November 26, 2024 // Chris Lewis ]The Rhenus Group is working with FareShare to distribute thousands of tonnes of food to communities in need across the North-west.
On 11 November a team of volunteers from the Group’s UK Road and High Tech divisions collaborated to redistribute 7.51 tonnes of food from local Tesco stores to 56 communities and charity groups in Greater Manchester – enough to make nearly 18,000 meals, feeding nearly 6,500 people in total.
Rhenus Road UK provided warehouse support, assisting with picking, packing, and building food packages, while Rhenus High Tech supplied the vans for distribution.
The partnership highlights The Rhenus Group’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, with Rhenus Road and Rhenus High Tech pledging to support FareShare on an ongoing basis.
FareShare is UK’s longest running food distribution charity, dedicated to addressing food waste while supporting social good. In 2023, it provided 4.6 million meals, redistributed 1,929 tonnes of food, and prevented 7,136 tonnes of carbon emissions by reducing food waste.
