German owner-managed logistics company Röhlig Logistics has opened a new subsidiary in Dublin after acquiring a majority shareholding in its agent of 20 years, AirOcean Ireland. The company will operate as Röhlig Ireland from January 2025.

Founder and director of AirOcean Ireland, Garrett O’Brien, will take on the role of managing director for Röhlig Ireland. His association with Röhlig dates back to the 1980s, when he joined the company in Australia and later worked in New Zealand, contributing to the growth of the Asia-Pacific region. In 1997, he returned to his roots to establish AirOcean Ireland.

Röhlig Logistics board member Ulrike Baum, said: “With the launch of Röhlig Ireland, we are significantly strengthening our Northern European footprint. Establishing our own office in Dublin will enable us to support current and future customers even more efficiently. We are delighted to enter this dynamic market under our own name and look forward to continuing our cooperation with AirOcean Ireland.”

Garrett O’Brien added: “I am excited about this new chapter and look forward to working even more closely with colleagues across the global Röhlig network. At Röhlig Ireland, our goal will be to drive growth by embracing the latest technological advancements in the logistics industry – while never losing sight of our people and ensuring that they remain the most integral part of our business.”
