Rotterdam invests for the future
[ March 23, 2018 // Chris ]The Port of Rotterdam Authority has started construction of a £175m Container Exchange Route that will link the deepsea container terminals, empty depots, rail terminals and distribution companies at Maasvlakte. It aims to reduce transfer and improve hinterland connections. Trains, inland vessels and feeder vessels will no longer need to go to different terminals when the scheme is completed in late 2020.
The authority has also awarded the SaVe consortium the contract to construct the substructure for the Theemsweg scheme to re-route part of the port rail to avoid opening bridges over shipping channels.
