Second time lucky for Redhead rider
[ July 30, 2013 // Chris ]Redhead International’s Archie Ormondroyd has completed a sponsored motorbike ride around the Lake District to help Zoe Firth. She suffers from a rare chromosome abnormality called Long Arm Three and is unable to speak or hear, is partially blind and has spondolosis of the spine, a heart defect and epilepsy.
Zoe’s mother Helen is raising money to send Zoe to Disneyland for her 32nd birthday in September so she can meet her hero, Mickey Mouse. “I read about Zoe and the appeal and they are very local to me so I wanted to do something to help as I firmly believe that charity starts at home,” said Archie, who works at Redhead’s Bradford office.
It was second time lucky for Archie, who first tackled the ride on 5 July on a 36-year old East German MZ TS250 motorcycle which broke down at Windermere. He set out again on 9 July on a Yamaha XJ 600 Diversion and completed the ride in 10 hours.
