Sheffield launches Logistics Hub group
[ May 1, 2014 // Chris ]Sheffield City Region launched its new Logistics Hub UK group on 29 April at the Multimodal show at the NEC. It is a partnership of private-sector companies and the public sector to promote the region’s capabilities in logistics, distribution and warehousing sector in Doncaster and the Sheffield region.
The initiave is sponsored by Verdion, Gazeley, Peel Land and Property, Harworth Estates. Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Business Doncaster, Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and Doncaster College.
The group’s new website www.logisticshubuk.com showcases the availability of sites, workforce demographics in the Sheffield City Region, while promoting the area’s connectivity and multimodal capabilities.
Steve Gill, chair of the Logistics Hub UK and managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, describes it as “the shop window for anyone who is in the logistics industry or looking for sites for distribution operations. It makes businesses aware of the competitive advantages of the region as the place to invest. Our mission is to establish Doncaster and the Sheffield City Region as the North of England’s leading multi-modal logistics hub, and to create a vibrant, successful logistics sector.”
