Shipowners call for streamlined reporting
[ March 14, 2018 // Chris ]The European shipowners association (ECSA) and World Shipping Council (WSC) have called for more streamlined ship and cargo reporting system ahead of the European Commission’s expected publication of proposed revisions to the Reporting Formalities Directive (RFD) in early May.
They would like to see a ‘harmonised maximum list’ of data reporting requirements for cargo and vessels that is valid in every EU port. Presently the data reporting requirements for vessels and cargo differ between EU States and even between ports in the same country. Data elements must also be properly assessed and deleted if not essential and it is also vital to harmonise the format and structure of messages used so that the data can be re-used across the EU.
They also want a single EU interface to fulfil all reporting requirements.
