Stena appoints Straits of Gibraltar MD
[ March 31, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Stena Line has appointed Rachid Houari as managing director for African Morocco Link (AML).
He brings more than 25 years of maritime experience in ferry, ro ro, and port operations and was most recently managing director for three logistics zones companies within the Tangier Med Group.
In April 2024, Swedish ferry company, Stena Line, acquired 49% of the shares in the Morocco-based ferry company AML, Stena Line first expansion beyond Europe.
In his new role he will be responsible for managing the two freight and passenger routes between Tanger Med and Algeciras, as well as the high-speed route between Tanger Ville and Tarifa.
He succeeds Ian Hampton, who has served as interim managing director for AML since May last year and will now move back to the UK and focus on Anglesey Land Holding, a Stena subsidiary that his repurposing a former aluminium plant site close to the port of Holyhead into a technology park.
