Stena goes intermodal with Poland rail link

[ June 17, 2013   //   ]

Ferry operator Stena Line is offering a new ship-rail service between the UK and Poznan in Poland via Rotterdam in co-operation with ERS Railways. There are five train departures a week, connecting with Stena’s regular service to and from Harwich.

Stena’s freight commercial manager for the North Sea area, Rob Mittelmeijer, said the line had seen “a huge demand from our customers” for intermodal solutions. “The connection between Poznan and Rotterdam is an important connection within our route network and for our customers who want to have easy access to rail-connections.

“We see great potential for this solution both in the UK, Poland and the surrounding markets. For instance in Poland several of our existing customers have already made the necessary preparations for rail to ferry transportation,” he added.
