Stena Line steps up Irish Sea services
[ March 22, 2022 // Chris ]P&O Ferries has restarted its services between Liverpool and Dublin, but other routes including Dover/Calais remain suspended. It follows the company’s move on 17 March to sack 800 seafarers and replace them with lower-paid agency staff.
Other operators have moved to fill the gap meanwhile. Stena Line said in a statement: “In the wake of P&O’s announcement last week, Stena Line has been working over recent days to try and mitigate against any build-up of traffic at its ports, especially on the routes to and from Northern Ireland which have been especially impacted.
It said over the weeken of 1/20 March, all seven Stena Line Belfast-based ships operated at full capacity, which included the provision of six extra sailings at very short notice. The Stena Nordica has also been temporarily transfered to Belfast, to operate as a third vessel on the Belfast-Cairnryan service and will provide two extra daily Belfast sailings (01:30hrs and 17:30hrs) and two extra daily Cairnryan sailings (05:30hrs and 21:30hrs).
