Stena takes first steps towards battery powered ships

Stena Line has signed a contract with Callenberg Technology Group to turn Gothenburg/Frederikshavn ferry, Stena Jutlandica into a ‘battery powered’ vessel. The 1 MWh power plant will be used for ‘in port’ operations although Stena’s ultimate target is for battery propulsion to power vessels up to 50 nautical miles.
