Sunset over Liverpool
[ February 3, 2021 // Chris ]The gamble of an against-the-sun shot paid off for casino manager and amateur photographer Stephen Carrigan to win the British Ports Association’s inaugural photo competition with this stunning photo of a cargo ship on the Mersey.
His portrait shows the 868teu Katherine Borchard off Crosby beach at the mouth of the Mersey.
Over 800 photos were entered into the competition, which showcases the beauty of the UK coastline and maritime communities.
From the 800 pictures submitted, 25 finalists were selected and put to a public vote. Stephen Carrigan’s photo narrowly edged Darren Weadle’s night-time shot of the Tyne Bridge and Colm O Laoi’s photo of the Shivering Sands fort on the Thames Estuary in third place.
