Associated British Ports (ABP) has invested £300,000 in a new car carrying DB Cargo-operated rail service for BMW at Southampton.
The investment will allow ABP to move around 600 to 800 new BMW Minis each week by rail. It is the first automotive service to operate in the Western Docks, alomngside existing operations in the Eastern Docks.
Southampton Cargo Handling will discharge the vehicles.
