Istanbul New Airport will open for passenger flights on 31 October, with the existing gateway, Atatürk closing on the same day. A flight by flag carrier Turkish Airlines to Ankara at 2pm will be followed by the first overseas flights to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan.

The first runway at Istanbul New Airport (INA) is reported to be ready for takeoff and landing. Some 80% of the initial phase of Istanbul New Airport, which is due to open on 29 October, is now complete.
