Maersk Line has introduced a new Spot online service that provides customers a cargo loading guarantee at a fixed price upfront. It aims to counteract the high level of overbookings in shipping – often of around 30%, which in turn leads to high levels of cargo rollovers, and in turn encourages even more overbooking.
