The SAECS Europe-South Africa lines are to switch their southbound call from Port Elizabeth Container Terminal to the port of Nqura/Coega from 7 July due to draught limitations. The northbound call will remain at Port Elizabeth.

German shipping line DAL says it can offer a service to North Africa and Turkey via its existing link on the SAECS service from London Gateway. Service is via Algeciras in southern Spain and is available to Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, Tunis, Oran, Algiers, Izmir, Marport , Yilport and Mersin.

Europe/South Africa consortium SAECS is merging its operation with the MedShuttle/225 service between January and March. The new joint service will operate with larger vessels and the weekly named day frequency will continue to be maintained by eight vessels with transit times between North Europe and South Africa largely unchanged.
