A new ship for Africa

Safmarine took delivery of its latest 'Wafmax' (West Africa maximum size) vessel, the 4,500teu Safmarine  Chachai on 21 May. She joins her sister-ships, the Safmarine Chilka and Safmarine Chambal on the carrier's African trades. The Safmarine Chachai and her sister ships were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries and are fitted with super long-stroke main engines and a waste heat recovery system to reduce emissions and save fuel.
