US Customs steps up import controls

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will fully enforce Importer Security Filing from 15 March, reports UK forwarder Woodland Group. ISFs will have to be filed on all ocean shipments 48 hours before sailing from the final port, with fines of up to $5,000, issued to the importer, for each infraction of this new policy.
