Teesport gains daily Zeebrugge link
[ October 17, 2014 // Chris ]P&O Ferries is to upgrade its service between Teesport and Zeebrugge from three days a week to daily. From the New Year, the 1,625 lane metres Mistral will take up service from alongside the Bore Song.
At the same time, P&O will increase capacity on its Teesport – Europoort route by replacing the existing ship with the 2,270lm Estraden.
With 2015’s new low sulphur emissions rules in mind, Estraden will be fitted with two Norsepower wind rotors and NAPA Optimisation equipment while Mistral features an efficient single engine, fitted with variable frequency drive. The Bore Song will have a sulphur scrubber.
The new ships complement PD Ports’ investment in a new £3m intermodal rail terminal at Teesport, bringing the prospect of rail-sea-rail services to Scotland and the Midlands via the North-east.
