The beers are on Munich Airport

[ September 10, 2024   //   ]

If someone at Heathrow Cargo Centre asked if you fancied a brew, you wouldn’t expect more than a cup of tea. But at Munich they could well be offering you a beer. The airport has its own brewery and, moreover, it has been in existence for a quarter of a century.

Airbräu celebrated its 25th anniversary with a week-long programme of music, a Ferris wheel, a wheat beer-themed event carousel and culinary highlights in September .

There is also a special anniversary beer which, along with Airbräu’s roast pork, are available at historic prices from Airbräu’s opening year of 1999.

Since it opened its doors, more than 11.5 million liters of beer have been brewed and served, such as Fliegerquell light and the Kumulus wheat beer – using only carbon-neutral solar energy since 2022. Moreover, a total of 2,545,875 Bavarian-style Weisswurst sausages have been sold. However, even meat-loving Bavaria hasn’t been spared the rising tide of veganism – since 2020, a growing number of vegetarian and vegan dishes have also been on offer.

More is available at Airbräu’s own online store including beer brandy, created during the Covid pandemic: www.airbraeu.shop.de
