Three decades and 30,000 crossings

[ July 3, 2024   //   ]

With Eurotunnel celebrating its 30th anniversary, one of its largest commercial users, Europa Road says it is now making more than 30,000 trips a year between England and France.

Europa was one of the first users of the Le Shuttle freight service, in 1994.

Eurotunnel, which runs 50km between Cheriton near Folkestone and Coquelles, near Calais remains the longest undersea tunnel in the world. Its electric shuttle trains offer a journey time of 35 minutes and it is less affected by weather than ferries. Europa adds that a truck using Eurotunnel emits 12 times less carbon emissions than by ferry.

Since Brexit, Europa has fully integrated its Leonardo software with Eurotunnel to transfer customs data directly into the LeShuttle Freight IT infrastructure and Border Control in France.
