TIR truck slashes China-Türkiye time

A truck has operated for the first times from China to Türkiye under the TIR customs bonding regime, reports the International Road Transport Union (IRU). The truck, loaded with automobile parts, started the operation from the Khorgos border crossing and arrived at the port of Kuryk in Kazakhstan where it boarded across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, before continuing by road to Istanbul, via Georgia. The truck travelled 4,800km in 19 days compared with 30-40 days by sea.
