Trucks down but good result for Tunnel
[ July 29, 2013 // Chris ]Eurotunnel Group reported a 7% decrease in its lorry shuttle traffic in the first half of 2013 on 25 July, but its total revenue increased by 10% to €509 million, thanks to increases in car and coach traffic and a 12% rise in the number of freight trains operated by its Europorte subsidiary. There was also a 12% increase in freight trains operated through the Tunnel. Chairman and chief executive officer Jacques Gounon, said: “In a hostile environment and following an exceptional year in 2012, the Eurotunnel Group continues to strengthen its market shares across the board and is pleased about the improved profitability of Europorte.”
