Ukraine plane steps into the breach for AVEM Aero
[ April 6, 2022 // Chris ]Estonia-based AVEM Aero has augmented its Saab340 fleet with a Ukraine-owned AN-26. It plans to use to to deliver oil well equipment and other outsize freight to Sweden, Finland and Norway as well as serving its newly launched air charter operation. The operator’s managing director Nikolay Kurbanov says that the main benefit of the plane is its ramp, strong enough to take an elephant
It has been leased from Ukraine’s Constanta under an indefinite lease agreement and it has authorizations from the EU countries
He adds that most of the company’s team is based in Ukraine, saying: “It’s the best contribution to the victory. And also we will use our new plane for humanitarian missions.”
