UPS launches two-way Hong Kong train service
[ May 25, 2018 // Chris ]UPS has launched a new full container load (FCL) rail service between Europe and Hong Kong in both directions following its earlier introduction of a Europe-to-China operation. The two-way service between Duisburg, Germany and Hong Kong is around 30% faster than ocean freight and about 60% cheaper than air freight, it says. The rail services emit 25 times less CO2 than air freight and significantly less nitrogen oxide, non-methane hydrocarbon and sulfur dioxide than ocean transportation.
The new UPS Preferred FCL-Rail service allows customers to pack goods directly into containers and seal management, alarms, and optional GPS container can monitor location, temperature, humidity and movement and light. UPS systems are electronically linked to customs authorities, reducing the risk of errors and speeding up clearance.
