We want more women, say road men
[ November 28, 2017 // Chris ]The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has joined the Women in Transport EU Platform for Change which aims to strengthen female employment and to ensure equal opportunities for men and women in the transport sector. Despite the driver shortage, women comprise only 22% of those employed by the transport industry, it says. Together with other transport stakeholders, IRU has signed a joint declaration underlining its commitment to address the lack of gender balance in the sector, to encourage more women into professional driving, and to make the job more attractive to all.
