Whisky storage galore

[ August 28, 2014   //   ]

Russell Group’s Carntyne Transport subsidiary has opened three new HM Revenue and Customs-approved new cask storage facilities totalling over 100,000sq ft in the past 18 months. The additions come after Carntyne, one of the largest logistics providers to the Scottish whisky industry, outgrew its current storage facilities and made the decision to expand by more than 100,000 sq ft across three sites in Scotland.

The new warehouses are in Leith (55,000 sq ft), Paisley (30,000 sq ft) and Hillington (25,000 sq ft). Each site is HMRC approved and is dedicated to the storage of bulk whisky. The sites offer storage in the form of specialist cask racking, palletised and traditional dunnage.

Carntyne Transport managing director, David Paterson, said: “The whisky industry has experienced significant growth in recent years which has driven demand for high quality, flexible warehousing that meets all legislative requirements. Given Carntyne’s presence within the bulk whisky industry, our experience of bonded warehousing and existing property portfolio, extending our offering to include cask warehousing seemed a logical step.”
