Xpediator buys Nidd Transport
[ October 6, 2020 // Chris ]East and Central European specialist Xpediator has acquired Ripon, North Yorkshire-based international groupage freight forwarder and operator, Nidd Transport for £4.6 million.
Established by Tony White in 1984, Nidd specialises in deliveries to mainland Europe by road with particular focus on France, Spain, Portugal and Germany and operates a UK distribution platform particularly in the North of England, and is a founder member of the Palletforce network. It employs 65 people and uses a mixture of its own fleet of 45 vehicles and trailers and subcontracted vehicles.
Xpediator said Nidd’s focus on western Europe complements its own focus on central and eastern Europe, Italy and Germany and that there were clear opportunities to cross sell Xpediator’s services to Nidd’s customer base and maximise carrying capacities to and from Europe.
Earlier in October, Xpediator appointed current joint interim chief executive and chief financial officer Robert Ross as chief executive, follows the decision by former chief executive Stephen Blyth to step down due to health issues.
